Ancestor Deep Dive

How It Works

Submit the name of an ancestor, what you know, and where the record trail goes cold. The research draws on genealogical databases, courthouse records, and regional archives across the Appalachian states. Whatever the records hold gets documented and published as a blog post, available to every reader.

Eligibility

• Active monthly subscription required. This benefit is available to monthly subscribers only.
• Annual subscribers join the queue immediately upon subscribing. Monthly subscribers may submit a request at any time, but requests are not processed until the subscription has been active and in good standing for 12 consecutive months.
• One request per 12 months per subscriber, provided the subscription remains active throughout.
• The ancestor must have been born at least 100 years before the date of submission. Requests for more recent ancestors will not be processed.
• Findings are published publicly as a blog post. No living individuals are covered under any circumstances.
• Research is subject to the record. Results may be limited, inconclusive, or contradicted by other sources. What the records hold gets documented; what remains uncertain gets noted.
• Queue order. Requests are processed in the order received. There is no guaranteed timeline for completion.
